#18 Celebrating the Small Wins
It’s been a minute since I’ve written. Somehow March blurred into April, April blurred into May, and now June is already knocking at the door.
It’s been a year. Honestly, I feel like I say that every year. Does it ever get easier? I’m not sure it does. I think the hard just presents itself in different ways as the seasons of life continue to change.
This is a big closing year for our family. My oldest is wrapping up his junior year, which means senior year is suddenly upon us; along with everything that comes with it. That alone carries a heavy weight: making sure his needs are supported and met while we continue navigating the complex and medically demanding needs of his younger brother.
Speaking of our youngest, we are preparing to close out his school year and begin ESY. He returned to a brick-and-mortar school on January 20th, and that day will probably stay etched in my heart forever, right alongside birthdays and anniversaries; because it was that significant for our family.
We’ve had bumps in the road, of course, but overall, it has been a successful season. Once again, his journey and experiences have allowed me to help other families navigate pathways that often feel impossible. It has given me opportunities to share little pieces of wisdom and encouragement so others do not feel quite so alone in a space that can be incredibly isolating.
Summer is upon us, and we truly have so much to celebrate and be thankful for as this school year ends.
I know the path ahead will still have hurdles. There will be gaps to bridge and challenges to overcome. But for now…for this minute, for this moment; I am choosing to celebrate the small wins and the quiet accomplishments for both of my boys and for our family as a whole.
Because sometimes, we need to practice what we so often preach to others.
And maybe that’s the reminder I need most right now: every storm DOES eventually runs out of rain.
Thanks for being here!
